You may have noticed some changes to our website recently. Allow us to explain..
The future of young people has always been at the heart of our charity. We passionately believe in sport and physical activity as a powerful force for good in for young people - enabling them to live healthier and happier lives.
That’s why we are so proud that the 2018 South West Youth Games prompted almost 1,000 young people not engaged with regular community activity to join a local sports club.
In the same spirit of a wanting a better future for young people, we are widening our ambitions to the environment. We have listened to you - our participants and parents – you told us in a survey after this year’s Games that the environment was an area that you cared deeply about.
We share your concern over the deteriorating environment we risk passing on to our children and future generations.
How can we expect young people in the future to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity, if we do not ensure they have a safe, healthy and sustainable environment in which to play?
That’s why we are evolving the South West Youth Games into the Planet Earth Games, a unique event that will be a catalyst of physical activity and also educate young people on environmental sustainability for a better future.
The Planet Earth Games will aim to:
* eliminate single-use plastic
* leave no trace - we will leave venues cleaner
* use recycled materials where possible
* be at the forefront of sustainability in British sport
We are the world’s first environment-themed multi-sports event and will take place in Exeter for the first time in summer 2019. This is an exciting time for our charity, but an urgently important time for our planet and the future generations. We hope you will join our journey
