Hundreds of Devon and Cornwall’s most enthusiastic and talented BMX riders, skateboarders and scooterers aged 8-16 are getting set to compete for medals at the South Rotary West Youth Games Street Sports finals at Mount Hawke Skatepark near Truro on Friday.
Taking place at the venues that will host the official Team GB Olympic Trials venue for Tokyo 2020, the Street Sports finals are one of the most spectacular events in the South West Youth Games calendar which concludes with the Summers Finals in Dawlish on 7 July.
Cornwall will be attempting to defend the Street Sports crown they won last year on home turf. Chris Broadbent, Chief Executive of the South West Youth Games Trust said: “Last year’s launch Street Sports finals was one of the biggest successes of the South West Rotary Youth Games and marked a fresh approach for our events.
“The Street Sports provide something really relevant and appealing to young people who we might otherwise find harder to engage with using a more traditional sports model. We are expecting an incredible day for all young people to motivate them into regular physical activity and sports participation."
