South West Youngsters Shine at Youth Games Youngsters from across the South West performed superbly at the Devon South West Youth Games in Okehampton on Sunday 3 July. The South West’s biggest annual youth sports event saw over 1,300 youngsters from across the county, along with representative teams from Cornwall, take part in 20 competitions across 12 sports at Simmons Park, Okehampton West Devon were winners overall. Working with Parents in sport (WWPIS) and the South West Rotary Youth Games have agreed a partnership that will see the organisations working together to promote best practice for parents of children in sport. WWPIS is a UK-based company helping support parents to give their child the best possible sporting experience. Former Exeter Chiefs star Matt Jess and GB cycling international Lauren Dolan have joined the South West Rotary Youth Games as official ambassadors. The Cornwall-raised Jess spent nine seasons with the Chiefs, a period that included promotion to the Premiership, an Anglo-Welsh Cup Triumph and 2017’s famous Premiership title victory. Newton Abbot-based 18 year old Dolan has represented GB at the European Youth Olympics and World Championships – in the latter she bravely completed the time trial event despite a serious crash. South West Rotary Youth Games have added two further events to their expanded programme of events for 2018.The region’s largest annual community youth sport event will now host an indoor rowing event in April (entry form below) and a netball event in June, expanding the sport’s charity’s reach from two region-wide events in 2017 to five this year.The charity has added indoor rowing to its growing number of sports and will host the first ever South West Rotary Youth Games Indoor Rowing Finals at Plymouth Marjon University on 18 April.Furthermore, the Games will host Netball and High 5 Netball events at Paignton Community and sports Academy on 10 June.Alongs...
