International cyclist and ambassador for the Planet Earth Games, Lauren Dolan recently dropped in on the offices of Heathfield-based IT experts JMV Solutions to thank them for their support for the 2019 Games, which will take place in Exeter on 6 July. Formerly the South West Youth Games, the charity behind the event is broadening its reach from youth sport and children’s activities to tackling climate change. JMV Solutions have agreed to donate 1% of all their income this year to support the Planet Earth Games, which is set to be the world’s first environment themed multi sports event. Sports charity the South West Youth Games Trust has appointed its first ever Chief Executive. chris Broadbent, who has previously worked for Team GB and for the London Olympics has joined the Trust with an aim to increase activity levels among young people across Devon and Cornwall.   The charity was created in 2015 to save the Devon Youth Games and has since grown its main event into the South West Rotary Youth Games, expanding into Cornwall as well as every Devon district.   It is now the region’s biggest youth multi-sport community event with around 10,000 taking part in the journey towards its finals events.   43 year old Broadbent work...

The largest Olympic-style youth sports event in the region has awarded its 20th anniversary finals to Teignbridge district for 2018.   Dawlish is set to host the South West Rotary Youth Games finals on Saturday 7 July.   The annual multi-sport event was launched as the Devon Youth Games in 1999 and has since expanded across the South West to include teams from Cornwall and every Devon District competing in 20 sports.   Around 10,000 young people aged 8-18, both able-bodied and disabled take part in the journey towards the Games each year.   South West Youth Games Trust Chief Executive chris Broadbent said: “Dawlish Leisure Centre is a f...
