Cornish Teams Set for Games Debuts With less than three months to go until the Devon South West Youth Games, the South West’s biggest annual youth sports event is set to welcome teams from Cornwall for the first time.   South West Youth Games in line for UK Award   One of the Westcountry’s biggest grass roots sporting events is in line for a major national award. Last year’s Devon South West Youth Games was rescued from almost certain demise and became a massive success with over 1,000 youngsters competing in the county’s own mini-Olympics. South West Youngsters Shine at Youth Games Youngsters from across the South West performed superbly at the Devon South West Youth Games in Okehampton on Sunday 3 July. The South West’s biggest annual youth sports event saw over 1,300 youngsters from across the county, along with representative teams from Cornwall, take part in 20 competitions across 12 sports at Simmons Park, Okehampton West Devon were winners overall.       For the first time ever, thousands of Cornish youngsters are being given the opportunity to take part in an Olympic style sports event with their cross border Devon rivals this summer. Formerly known as the Devon Youth Games, the newly-expanded South West Youth Games has extended an invitation across the Tamar to their Cornish cousins to take part in the region’s biggest annual multi-sport youth event.
